Abu Dhabi and ARIDGE Collaborate on Innovative Flying Cars Initiative

Post by : Bianca Haleem

In a landmark development for transportation, Abu Dhabi has announced a collaboration with ARIDGE, Asia's leading flying car enterprise, previously known as XPENG AEROHT. This partnership is set up to accelerate the testing, certification, and implementation of advanced air mobility solutions in the capital of the UAE.

With this strategic alliance, ARIDGE is set to set up its operations within Abu Dhabi, focusing on the creation and testing of integrated road-air mobility solutions, which will be backed by the emirate’s robust regulatory framework and innovation ecosystem. This initiative will enable the company to utilize special testing corridors, assess potential market applications locally, and enhance the rapidly evolving Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster in Abu Dhabi.

The SAVI cluster is a prominent initiative aimed at establishing Abu Dhabi as a premier hub for smart and autonomous mobility, projected to generate AED 44 billion for the economy and over 40,000 high-quality jobs by 2045.

This collaboration between ADIO and ARIDGE will concentrate on four principal areas:

  • Regulatory acceleration: Collaborating with UAE aviation authorities to establish safety standards and certification for flying vehicles.

  • Use case development: Testing real-world applications encompassing tourism, urban transport, emergency response, and last-mile delivery.

  • Market deployment: Establishing pathways to transition prototypes into operational services alongside infrastructure planning.

  • Ecosystem growth: Attracting new investments and technology partners to bolster Abu Dhabi's aerial mobility network.

This initiative firmly establishes Abu Dhabi as a leader in smart, sustainable, and advanced transportation, making the dream of urban flying vehicles a tangible reality.
