Ahmad Al Harthy Finishes Fourth at Fuji WEC GT3 Race

Ahmad Al Harthy Finishes Fourth at Fuji WEC GT3 Race

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

International racing driver Ahmad Al Harthy completed the 7th round of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Japan’s Fuji Speedway, finishing fourth in the GT3 category. The 6-hour endurance race tested the drivers’ skill, strategy, and teamwork as competitors battled for top positions in challenging conditions.

Team and Car Details

Al Harthy competed alongside his WRT team in the 46 BMW M4. Starting from 11th position, the team quickly set out to climb the leaderboard. Through precise driving and consistent lap times, they aimed to recover ground and challenge for a podium finish.

Impressive First Driving Stint

During his first stint behind the wheel, Al Harthy delivered an exceptional performance. He overtook three rivals in the opening laps, moving from 11th to 8th place. As the race progressed, he continued to push, reaching 2nd place within the first quarter of the event. His pace and strategic decisions contributed significantly to the team’s early advancement.

Challenges for Valentino Rossi

Following Al Harthy, Italian racing legend Valentino Rossi took over the driving duties. Rossi faced difficult conditions due to yellow flag periods, which caused gaps between cars to shrink and impacted overall team positions. Despite these challenges, Rossi maintained focus and kept the car competitive under changing circumstances.

Kelvin van der Linde’s Contribution

South African driver Kelvin van der Linde then assumed control of the BMW M4. He managed to advance the team back up to 3rd place, showcasing strong defensive and overtaking skills. However, the team’s final pit stop affected their position, ultimately placing them in 4th at the checkered flag—just four seconds behind the podium finisher.

Points and Standings Impact

The WRT team earned 12 points from this race, which improved their position in the overall GT3 standings. They moved from 10th place in the previous round to 8th in the championship leaderboard. This points gain reflects the team’s consistent performance and effective strategy throughout the Fuji endurance event.

With the season nearing its conclusion, the WRT team now turns attention to the final round at Bahrain International Circuit in early November 2025. Al Harthy and his teammates aim to capitalize on their momentum, maintain consistency, and challenge for a higher overall ranking in the GT3 category.

Team Effort and Strategy

The team’s performance at Fuji highlights the importance of collaboration, precise pit strategies, and adaptability in endurance racing. Each driver’s contribution—from Al Harthy’s initial charge to van der Linde’s final stint—was key to securing a competitive finish.

Ahmad Al Harthy’s strong showing at Fuji Speedway reinforces his reputation as a skilled endurance driver. The WRT team’s consistent progress and ability to overcome race-day challenges demonstrate their determination to finish the season on a high note, aiming for a podium result in Bahrain.
