The Arab Parliament has strongly condemned the targeting of the Qatari tanker Al Rekayyat while it was sailing near the Strait of Hormuz, describing the incident as a serious violation of international law. The Parliament said the attack also poses a direct threat to the safety of maritime navigation and the stability of global energy supplies.
The statement was issued on Tuesday, expressing concern over the impact such incidents could have on one of the world's most important shipping routes.
In the official statement, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, condemned what he described as Iranian practices that threaten regional security and stability as well as the safety of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
He stated that the Strait remains a vital passage for the global economy and called for an immediate end to actions that endanger international waterways and disrupt maritime security.
Al Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament's complete rejection of any attacks targeting Arab countries or their property in any form. He stressed that such actions are unacceptable and undermine efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.

He also urged all parties to respect the principles of good neighbourliness and adhere to international charters to ensure freedom of navigation and the safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and other strategic waterways.
The Arab Parliament warned that continued violations in the region could increase tensions and negatively affect both regional and international stability. It also highlighted the importance of safeguarding global energy security by protecting key maritime routes from threats and ensuring uninterrupted navigation.
The Parliament reiterated its call for measures that support stability, protect international shipping lanes, and prevent further escalation in the region.
