Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Fahmy, presented his vision for the coming period and outlined the key priorities for the General Secretariat as part of efforts to strengthen its performance and enhance the joint Arab action system.
The proposals were discussed during a meeting with the permanent representatives of the Arab League held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo on Sunday.
Among those attending the meeting was Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States.
During his address, Fahmy stressed that improving the Arab League and strengthening its strategic role is a shared responsibility. He said success depends on full cooperation between the General Secretariat of the Arab League and all member states.
He emphasized that the priority should be adopting a practical approach focused on identifying clear priorities, implementing realistic and achievable steps, and continuously monitoring the results of those efforts.
Fahmy informed the permanent representatives about the contents of the letter he had sent to Arab foreign ministers after officially assuming his duties as Secretary-General.

He explained the main priorities for the next phase and shared his plans to improve the performance of both the Arab League and the system of joint Arab action.
The Secretary-General also presented several proposals aimed at strengthening the institutional performance of the General Secretariat. He said these measures are intended to improve its ability to carry out its responsibilities effectively while preparing the organization to meet future requirements.
Fahmy noted that continued support from member states, along with the fulfillment of their commitments to the Arab League, would play an important role in ensuring the success of these initiatives.
The meeting included an exchange of views on the priorities for the upcoming period. During the discussions, the permanent representatives congratulated Fahmy on taking office as Secretary-General of the Arab League.
The representatives expressed support for the direction outlined by Fahmy and said their countries look forward to working closely with the General Secretariat. They noted that stronger cooperation would help improve the efficiency and performance of the Arab League while advancing joint Arab action in line with the interests and aspirations of member states and their peoples.
