The Arab Youth Centre has concluded the 4th Arab Diplomatic Leaders Programme in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The event was held in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, and Chairman of the Arab Youth Centre. The ceremony marked the graduation of 46 young diplomats from 13 Arab countries, celebrating their successful completion of the training programme dedicated to advancing the next generation of Arab leaders in diplomacy.
In his remarks during the ceremony, Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed the UAE’s strong belief in empowering Arab youth with the right skills, tools, and knowledge to represent their nations responsibly on the global stage. He noted that diplomacy today requires not only political understanding but also economic awareness, communication skills, and cultural sensitivity. The UAE, he said, continues to play a leadership role in developing programmes that prepare young Arab professionals for such responsibilities.
The Arab Diplomatic Leaders Programme, organised by the Arab Youth Centre in partnership with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, focused on economic diplomacy and international trade. Participants received comprehensive training in areas such as global trade policies, economic agreements, investment facilitation, and the management of multilateral economic negotiations. The programme aimed to equip the graduates with a deep understanding of how diplomacy can contribute to sustainable economic development and cooperation among Arab nations.
Through a combination of lectures, workshops, and practical sessions, the participants were exposed to the most pressing global economic issues. They learned how to analyze international trade trends, design economic strategies, and represent their countries in global forums. The programme also encouraged collaboration among Arab youth, building a network of emerging diplomats committed to regional progress and international cooperation.
Sheikh Theyab highlighted that the UAE’s investment in such programmes demonstrates the nation’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Arab unity and cooperation. The training initiative, he explained, is part of the UAE’s broader vision to empower Arab youth to become agents of stability, development, and peace in their countries and beyond. The UAE believes that preparing skilled diplomats is key to ensuring a stronger and more connected Arab region capable of addressing shared challenges together.
The Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA), a leading institution for diplomatic education in the UAE, played a central role in designing and delivering the programme. The academy provided participants with specialized courses in international relations, negotiation skills, and economic diplomacy. AGDA’s involvement ensured that the training met the highest international standards, combining academic excellence with real-world diplomatic experience.
This year’s cohort included 46 participants from 13 Arab nations, reflecting the regional reach of the Arab Youth Centre’s efforts. The participants represented various ministries, diplomatic institutions, and government agencies from across the Arab world. Their shared experiences and diverse perspectives created a rich learning environment where ideas about modern diplomacy could be exchanged and expanded.
At the graduation ceremony, the participants expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership and the Arab Youth Centre for providing them with a platform to enhance their professional and leadership skills. They shared how the programme inspired them to contribute to their countries’ foreign policy objectives with a renewed sense of responsibility, knowledge, and confidence. The graduates also recognized that diplomacy today involves balancing traditional values with modern challenges such as climate change, digital transformation, and global economic shifts.
Since its establishment, the Arab Youth Centre has launched numerous initiatives to support youth leadership across the Arab world. The Diplomatic Leaders Programme is one of its flagship projects, designed to prepare a generation of diplomats who are adaptable, knowledgeable, and ready to serve their communities. The Centre’s focus on education, capacity-building, and international engagement continues to strengthen cooperation between Arab nations.
The conclusion of the 4th Arab Diplomatic Leaders Programme highlights the UAE’s continuous efforts to nurture and empower young Arab leaders. By focusing on economic diplomacy and fostering collaboration, the programme has provided participants with the tools to navigate an increasingly complex international landscape. With 46 graduates ready to take on diplomatic roles in their respective countries, the initiative represents another milestone in the UAE’s mission to promote education, leadership, and regional solidarity among Arab youth.
