The United States military has redirected 30 commercial vessels since beginning operations linked to the blockade of Iranian ports, while maintaining that the strategically important Strait of Hormuz remains open for international shipping.
According to an update shared by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday, American forces have taken several actions to enforce the maritime restrictions while allowing essential humanitarian shipments to continue.
CENTCOM stated that as of July 31, US forces had:

In a separate statement, the US Central Command rejected claims from Iranian officials that the Strait of Hormuz had been closed.
"Once again, the Iranian government claims it has closed the Strait of Hormuz. This is false," CENTCOM said.
The US military emphasized that the vital shipping route remains open for commercial vessels and stated that Iran does not have control over the international waterway.
CENTCOM added that thousands of commercial ships have continued to travel through the Strait of Hormuz over the past four months, highlighting the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes. Located between Iran and Oman, the narrow waterway serves as a major passage for global energy supplies.
A significant portion of the world’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports moves through this route, making any disruption in the area a major concern for international markets and energy security.
The latest developments come amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran, with both sides closely monitoring maritime activities in the Gulf region.
