Bahrain is all set to host the 26th edition of the Arab Basketball Championship in 2025. The prestigious event will take place from July 25 to August 2, following Tunisia’s withdrawal from hosting responsibilities. The tournament is being held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who serves as the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the President of the General Sports Authority, and the President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Gratitude to Royal Leadership and Support

The President of the Bahrain Basketball Association, Alaa Modara, expressed deep thanks to HH Shaikh Khalid for his continuous support and interest in the sport of basketball. He emphasized that this royal backing acts as a strong motivation for everyone involved in the preparation and organization of the event. According to Modara, such sponsorship adds to their dedication to make the championship a grand success.

Strengthening Bahrain's Sports Vision

Modara also said that hosting this major tournament supports Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad's broader vision of making Bahrain a prime destination for international and regional sports events. He believes that this kind of leadership is crucial for the continued growth of Bahrain’s sporting scene and plays a big role in enhancing the Kingdom’s reputation on the Arab and global stage.

Confidence from the Arab Basketball Federation

The President further shared that the Arab Basketball Federation’s decision to select Bahrain as the new host on such short notice is a clear sign of the trust and confidence they have in the Kingdom’s capabilities. He mentioned that this shows Bahrain’s strong track record in hosting successful and large-scale sports events.

Commitment to Deliver a Top-Class Event

Modara assured that Bahrain is committed to delivering an edition of the championship that upholds its legacy. He said the organizers are working hard with various official departments to ensure everything runs smoothly. Their aim is to offer a world-class experience that meets the expectations of all participating teams, sports officials, and fans alike.

A Rich History of the Arab Basketball Championship

The Arab Basketball Championship is known as one of the oldest and most respected tournaments in the Arab world. It attracts top national basketball teams from across the region, making it a major highlight in the regional sports calendar. By hosting this event, Bahrain gets another chance to prove its strength in organizing large and professional sports events and in promoting sports culture across the Arab world.

Bahrain's Growing Sports Reputation

Bahrain has hosted many regional and international sports events in recent years. From Formula One races to mixed martial arts and now the Arab Basketball Championship, the Kingdom continues to expand its influence in the sports world. Events like this championship help boost the country’s global image and also contribute to its tourism and economy.

Engaging the Youth Through Sports

The support of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad also reflects a deeper goal—to engage more youth in sports and fitness activities. Hosting such events in Bahrain inspires young athletes and encourages them to pursue sports as a career. It also provides local players with exposure to international-level competition.

Boost to Bahrain's Sports Infrastructure

Preparing to host a tournament of this scale brings further improvement to Bahrain’s sports infrastructure. It ensures that stadiums, training centers, and support services are upgraded to meet international standards. This results in long-term benefits for local sports development even after the event concludes.

Expectations and Preparations Underway

With the championship now confirmed, final planning and coordination are in full swing. The Basketball Association, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is working to ensure every detail is handled with care. From team accommodations to ticketing, broadcasting and event management, every element is being prepared to deliver a memorable and seamless experience.

Arab Unity Through Sports

This tournament is not only about competition—it also serves as a platform for cultural exchange and Arab unity. Teams, officials, and fans from various Arab countries will come together, share experiences, and celebrate their common love for the sport of basketball. It will be a celebration of Arab identity, talent, and cooperation.

Bahrain Ready to Welcome the Arab Sports Community

As the date approaches, Bahrain is ready to open its doors and welcome the Arab basketball community. With organisational excellence, warm hospitality, and passionate sports culture, the Kingdom aims to make this championship one of the most memorable in the tournament’s long history.

Bahrain’s hosting of the Arab Basketball Championship 2025 is not just another event—it reflects royal vision, regional trust, and national pride. Under the leadership of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain is preparing for a spectacular edition that will enhance its status as a regional sports powerhouse. The country is focused on delivering excellence on and off the court, while also using this opportunity to unite Arab nations through the power of sports.
