This morning, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake was registered in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir province, western Türkiye, as reported by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The quake occurred at a depth of 11.04 kilometers. So far, officials have confirmed that there have been no casualties or damages, while teams continue to carry out on-site evaluations.
Ali Yerlikaya, Türkiye's Interior Minister, stated that emergency response units were promptly deployed post-quake to assess any potential impacts.
Notably, Sındırgı had previously experienced a 6.1-magnitude quake on October 27 last year, which also resulted in no reported injuries.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and advising residents to be vigilant for any aftershocks.
