Manager John Schneider of the Blue Jays has expressed optimism regarding Bo Bichette’s chances of participating in the upcoming World Series, set to begin with Game 1 on Friday. Bichette, a crucial offensive player for Toronto, might play a vital role if he receives medical clearance. Schneider mentioned that the coaching staff is attentively observing Bichette's readiness and how he could be optimally integrated into the lineup.
Following their decisive Game 7 win in the ALCS, Bichette conveyed a strong desire to be included in the World Series roster. While he had limited involvement in prior series, Schneider confirmed that the possibility of Bichette's return is gaining traction as the team nears the championship matches.
Schneider pointed out that Bichette is aware of his condition and understands the expectations if he returns. “In discussions with Bo, he’s quite realistic about his feelings and his readiness to compete,” Schneider stated, underscoring the necessity of understanding the player's perspective for making such decisions.
The exact position Bichette will fill is still under evaluation, with Schneider noting that placing him at second base could be a significant step. The team is exploring various options to maximize his chances of success. Further discussions will be held after Bichette undertakes a workout to assess his comfort and readiness for high-stakes play.
At 27, Bichette has earned two All-Star selections and has played all seven years of his major league career with the Blue Jays. In 2025, his performance included a .311 batting average, .357 on-base percentage, .483 slugging percentage, 18 home runs, and 94 RBIs across 139 games, solidifying his role as a key player in Toronto’s lineup.
Throughout his career, Bichette has achieved a .294 batting average, .337 on-base percentage, and a .469 slugging percentage, totaling 111 home runs and 437 RBIs over 748 games. His consistent performance underscores his value as Toronto gears up for the World Series.
Schneider confirmed that the final verdict on Bichette’s participation will follow his workout assessment regarding comfort and readiness. “We’re getting closer to a decision,” Schneider remarked, reiterating the team's commitment to balancing player safety with optimal performance in this critical championship phase.
If he is cleared, Bichette could make a substantial impact in the Blue Jays’ lineup. Schneider is considering various scenarios to ensure Bichette can contribute effectively, striking a balance between the team's success and safeguarding the player’s health.
