UAE Launches DAMITA, First AI-Driven Counter-Drone Defence System

UAE Launches DAMITA, First AI-Driven Counter-Drone Defence System

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Calidus Holding Group, one of the UAE’s leading defence and manufacturing companies, has launched the country’s first fully integrated counter-drone defence system named DAMITA. This advanced system is designed to detect, track, and neutralize both AI-enabled drones and swarm drones, providing complete protection for cities, borders, military bases, and critical infrastructure.

Developed entirely in the UAE, DAMITA combines multiple layers of autonomous defence capabilities into a single AI-driven system. It integrates detection, command and control, and drone defeat technologies to deliver fast and efficient responses against evolving drone threats. The system uses a central AI command and control (C2) software to ensure coordinated action and accurate responses.

Dr. Khalifa Murad Alblooshi, Managing Director and CEO of Calidus Holding Group, stated, “With DAMITA, we are not only introducing a new system but also showcasing our ability as a full system integrator. By combining detection, AI-based control, and multiple defeat methods into one platform, we are providing a reliable and mission-ready defence solution developed completely in the UAE.”

The DAMITA system addresses the modern drone threat, which has become more advanced with AI-enabled drones capable of autonomous navigation, precision targeting, and operation in jammed or contested environments. The system is designed to tackle both individual and mass swarm attacks, making it a key asset for future security and defence operations.

DAMITA features a combination of radar, full-spectrum RF scanners, and EO/IR sensors, supported by AI algorithms for precise detection and distinguishing drones from birds. Once a threat is detected, the system can respond with electronic jamming, high-energy lasers, or advanced air-burst interceptors. It offers both hard kill and soft kill options to safely neutralize drones without collateral damage in urban areas.

The system’s advanced capabilities include a high interception rate of up to 20 drones per minute, a battery-powered laser that provides instant responses anywhere, and On-the-Move (OTM) functionality for continuous detection and engagement during mobility. These features ensure that DAMITA can operate effectively in both stationary and dynamic environments, offering full protection for sensitive locations.

By combining innovation, autonomy, and scalable solutions, DAMITA represents a significant step forward in drone defence technology. It allows authorities and defence forces to respond decisively to the growing threat posed by AI-integrated drones and swarm attacks. The system’s flexibility, speed, and precision make it suitable for a wide range of security operations, from protecting urban centers to defending critical military assets.

The launch of DAMITA strengthens the UAE’s position in advanced defence technology and highlights Calidus Holding Group’s commitment to developing cutting-edge, locally manufactured solutions. The system is set to play a crucial role in future security operations, ensuring the safety of citizens, infrastructure, and national interests against emerging aerial threats.
