CaoCao and ADIO Collaborate to Enhance Sustainable Mobility in Abu Dhabi

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Abu Dhabi is set to revolutionize its transportation landscape with a significant partnership between the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and China’s CaoCao Inc. — a mobility tech firm backed by Geely. This collaboration aims to accelerate the integration of smart and autonomous transport systems in the emirate.

Announced during DRIFTx 2025, Abu Dhabi’s premier platform for sustainable transport innovations, this strategic alliance establishes CaoCao’s regional headquarters in the UAE capital, paving the way for its expansion across the Middle East with advanced green vehicle technology.

CaoCao, recognized as Geely Holding Group’s leading Robotaxi operator, boasts a robust infrastructure in China. The firm employs electric vehicles, autonomous tech, and AI-driven fleet management systems to foster a connected, sustainable transport network.

This partnership aligns with Abu Dhabi's ambition to become a smart mobility hub, beginning with pilot projects that will introduce autonomous vehicles and battery-swap electric vehicles on local roads. These trials will occur with government support to ensure safety and integration into the emirate’s clean energy framework.

The initiative aims to enhance local innovation, research, and talent development, creating synergies with UAE universities and research bodies. Both parties will also focus on knowledge sharing, safety measures, and promoting smart mobility advancements at future events in the capital.

This alliance further cements Abu Dhabi’s role as a global hub for next-gen transportation technologies, making it an attractive location for innovative Chinese companies aiming for regional growth and sustainable initiatives.
