The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) organised the Central Bank Data Leaders and Professionals Conference in Abu Dhabi under the theme, “Data – The Solid Foundation of Central Bank Operations in Times of Uncertainty.” The conference brought together senior officials from CBUAE, over 35 central banks, and international financial institutions to discuss the strategic role of data in central banking.

Focus on Global Cooperation and Best Practices

The conference aimed to encourage dialogue and knowledge sharing among nations, adopting global best practices to address digital and economic transformations. Participants explored ways to enhance central banks’ preparedness and agility in managing future challenges.

Data-Driven Innovation for Central Bank Oversight

Sessions highlighted the importance of data-driven innovation to strengthen monetary policy and financial oversight. Experts discussed how data can become a strategic asset, supporting licensed financial institutions, market participants, and commercial entities.

Artificial Intelligence and Data Management

A key focus of the conference was the interaction between AI and data. Participants analysed how robust data governance enables AI development, the impact of AI on data structures, and how AI can enhance operational efficiency in central banking.

Strategic Data Operating Models Discussed

In-depth discussions covered strategic visions for data operating models, analytics architecture, and the need to link data investments to measurable business outcomes. Success stories and practical implementation lessons were shared to inspire innovative approaches.

Interactive Panels on Data Transformation

Interactive panels emphasised how data can be converted into actionable products, meeting the evolving needs of stakeholders. Participants also explored the latest analytics toolkits and technological advancements to improve central bank operations.

CBUAE Leadership Highlights Strategic Data Goals

Ahmed Saeed Al Qamzi, Assistant Governor of Banking and Insurance Supervision at CBUAE, said the conference highlights the bank’s commitment to leveraging advanced data analytics and fostering collaboration at local, regional, and international levels. He stressed that data-driven decision-making is key to operational efficiency and achieving long-term objectives.

Advancing Data Capabilities in the UAE

The bank strengthened its data governance framework, covering quality, risk management, and records, while accelerating AI integration. Twenty machine learning applications were developed, and over 60 pre-trained AI models evaluated, streamlining reporting and enhancing risk management.

A Blueprint for Central Bank Innovation
