Cristiano Ronaldo has made a major statement about his future by signing a two-year contract extension with Al Nassr, ensuring he stays with the Saudi club until the summer of 2027. At 40 years old, he will remain the highest-paid athlete in the world, with reports estimating his deal to be worth around €200 million annually. This includes his salary, performance bonuses, a signing fee, and even a 15% ownership stake in the club.
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December 2022 after leaving Manchester United. Since his arrival, he has been nothing short of a phenomenon, scoring 99 goals in 111 matches. His presence has brought much-needed global attention to Saudi football and has been instrumental in attracting other top-tier players, like Neymar and Benzema, to the Saudi Pro League. This has significantly boosted Al Nassr’s commercial success and fanbase around the world.
Since Ronaldo came, Al Nassr hasn't been able to win the league title, but his performances have been outstanding nonetheless. He demonstrated that his talent and leadership are still at the highest level even at this point in his career in 2023 by helping the team win the Arab Club Champions Cup. His commitment to helping the squad win more games and keep promoting Saudi football is demonstrated by this new deal.
The new terms of Ronaldo’s deal make it one of the most lucrative contracts in sports history. Apart from his annual salary and bonuses, the deal includes a major signing fee and a 15% stake in the club, making him even more involved with Al Nassr’s growth and future success. This deal ties Ronaldo’s legacy closely to the club.
Ronaldo will continue to serve as a global spokesperson for Saudi travel and sports initiatives outside of football. His impact will keep growing off the field, elevating Saudi Arabia's profile in international sports.
Any speculation about his possible retirement or transfer to another team has been dispelled with this deal. Now, supporters can relax knowing that Ronaldo will continue to play at the top level in the Saudi Pro League and be a mainstay at Al Nassr for at least two more seasons.
