Islamic Heritage Exhibition Opens in Fujairah

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Fujairah is hosting the Zayed National Museum's travelling exhibition, allowing locals to explore the rich Islamic heritage and culture of the UAE. This exhibition, named Introducing Zayed National Museum: Rooted in Faith, runs until 18 December 2025 and emphasizes the integration of Islamic principles into Emirati customs.

Serving as a preview of the future Zayed National Museum, opening on 3 December 2025, the exhibition honors the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan alongside Fujairah’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, recognizing their contributions to unity and nation-building.

Attendees can view extraordinary artefacts, such as a 16th-century incense canister from the Ming dynasty adorned with al-Shahada, and Celadon pottery remnants from Bidya, showcasing the region's extensive cultural interactions. Architectural models like the replica of the Bidya Mosque and the Zayed National Museum itself shed light on the country's vibrant heritage. An installation of a ghaf tree invites visitors to learn about Sheikh Zayed’s formative years in Al Ain, while a captivating display of a Late Mamluk Qur’an from the 16th century unveils exquisite religious texts and annotations.

Following similar past exhibitions at Dubai’s Etihad Museum and Ajman Museum, this Fujairah showcase broadens public access to the UAE’s cultural jewels. It allows both residents and guests to discover the artefacts and narratives that will play a pivotal role in the future national museum, promoting a richer appreciation of the UAE’s heritage and core values.
