The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE), in partnership with Presight, introduced its groundbreaking artificial intelligence platform, AD.WE, at GITEX Global 2025. The launch included a new brand identity and a clear roadmap to guide its phased development. Senior officials, including Dr. Abdullah Hamid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the DoE, attended the event alongside Mansour Al Mansouri and Thomas Pramotedham of Presight.
AD.WE is the world’s first AI-powered energy and water management system that gathers live and historical grid data within a secure UAE-hosted cloud. It provides a unified view of all utilities in Abu Dhabi, identifying efficiency opportunities early. The platform could achieve up to 30% water savings, 20% energy savings, and AED 100 million in annual cost reductions.
Powered entirely by carbon-free electricity, AD.WE supports Abu Dhabi’s sustainability vision by reducing outages and improving reliability. It will later integrate district cooling and petroleum products, aiming to save 160 million cubic metres of water and 1.9 TWh of electricity annually by 2035.
At GITEX, the DoE showcased AI-based use cases such as smart irrigation, leak detection, and consumption analytics, which can reduce usage by up to 10%. The three-phase roadmap includes:
Phase 1 (2025): Core capability testing
Phase 2 (2025–26): Full rollout and wider integration
Phase 3 (by 2026): Advanced AI and automation
DoE Chairman Dr. Al Jarwan said the platform reinforces Abu Dhabi’s leadership in sustainability and digital transformation. Presight CEO Thomas Pramotedham called it a “must-see innovation” at GITEX.
The platform’s AI Lab as a Service enables projects in solar forecasting, irrigation optimisation, and simulation intelligence, supporting the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 and Energy & Water Efficiency Strategy 2030.
Through AD.WE, Abu Dhabi continues to lead the way in using AI to protect resources, strengthen infrastructure, and shape a smarter, more sustainable future.
