Dubai Humanitarian Documentary Shows How UAE Delivers Global Aid

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Dubai Humanitarian, the world’s largest humanitarian logistics hub, has released a new documentary titled ‘Coming Together: The Dubai Humanitarian Story’. The film provides a behind-the-scenes look at how the facility manages rapid humanitarian responses around the world. It demonstrates the hub’s role in coordinating life-saving aid with United Nations agencies, NGOs, and government partners.

Rapid Response in Global Crises

The documentary highlights Dubai Humanitarian’s quick responses to crises, including floods in Pakistan and the ongoing conflict in Gaza. It showcases how the hub ensures aid reaches communities in urgent need. By coordinating with international partners, the hub is able to deliver essential supplies quickly and efficiently, saving lives during emergencies.

Scale of Operations

Dubai Humanitarian operates on a massive scale, with 150,000 square metres of warehouses donated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. These warehouses store essential items like vaccines, health kits, and clean water, which can be sent to crisis zones within hours.

Partnerships and Collaboration

The documentary also emphasizes the role of Dubai Humanitarian’s partners. These include UN agencies such as the World Food Programme and UNHCR, as well as government partners like Dubai Customs and Emirates Airline. Their joint efforts ensure that aid is delivered swiftly, seamlessly, and on a large scale, overcoming logistical challenges in complex emergencies.

Human Stories Behind Aid

The film captures the human side of humanitarian operations, featuring aid workers, customs officials, and airline crews. It shows their dedication and hard work to bring hope to communities affected by crises. The documentary highlights the teamwork and commitment needed to deliver life-saving assistance efficiently.

Leadership Statement

Giuseppe Saba, CEO of Dubai Humanitarian, said, “Dubai Humanitarian is more than a logistics hub - it’s a global lifeline. This film shows what’s possible when the world comes together, and when the UAE leads with purpose.” He added that in the first half of 2025, Dubai Humanitarian delivered over AED179.2 million in aid to 81 countries, with a focus on shelter and health support.

Humanitarian Principles

Sajeda Shawa, Head of UN OCHA UAE, emphasized the importance of delivering aid without discrimination, ensuring equality and fairness. She said providing aid to those who cannot speak for themselves is both a responsibility and an honor, highlighting the ethical foundation of humanitarian work.

AI-Powered Humanitarian Databank

Dubai Humanitarian operates a unique AI-powered Humanitarian Logistics Databank. This system provides real-time analytics, stock visibility, and demand forecasting across multiple time zones. It allows aid agencies to anticipate needs, prevent price fluctuations, and prepare for seasonal surges, such as the high demand for shelter during Bangladesh’s monsoon season.

Strategic Location for Fast Delivery

Located just ten minutes from Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai Humanitarian can reach two-thirds of the world’s hazard-prone population within 4 to 8 hours. As the hub expands to 11 regional centers, a larger portion of aid will be sourced locally, reducing carbon emissions and speeding up deliveries.

Aid Distribution Statistics

Between January and June 2025, Dubai Humanitarian distributed over USD48.8 million in aid to 81 countries. Of this, almost USD14 million supported health, including medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and essential supplies. Aid for water and sanitation totaled USD1 million, providing items such as containers, buckets, and jerry cans.

Shelter Assistance

Nearly one-third of all aid, valued at close to USD15 million, went to shelter support. This included more than 937,000 pieces of camping and field equipment, such as tents and winterisation kits, to help families survive in crisis zones. Shelter aid ensures that displaced people and vulnerable communities have safe and temporary homes during emergencies.

Stock and Resources

By June 2025, Dubai Humanitarian’s total stock value reached USD208.1 million. One of the significant operations in the first half of the year was the 25th Dubai Humanitarian airlift for Gaza in April. This operation delivered 56.8 metric tonnes of critical medical supplies, worth over USD1 million (AED4.3 million), provided by the World Health Organization, to El Arish Airport in Egypt.

UAE’s Leadership in Humanitarian Work

The documentary emphasizes the UAE’s role in leading global humanitarian initiatives. Through Dubai Humanitarian, the UAE provides fast, efficient, and large-scale aid to people affected by natural disasters, conflicts, and emergencies worldwide. The hub demonstrates how strong logistics, partnerships, and innovation can save lives and relieve suffering.

Commitment to Future Operations

Dubai Humanitarian continues to expand its operations and adopt new technologies to enhance aid delivery. The AI-powered Databank, local sourcing, and growing network of regional hubs ensure that crisis-affected populations receive assistance quickly, reducing human suffering and supporting resilience in vulnerable communities.

The documentary ‘Coming Together: The Dubai Humanitarian Story’ highlights the UAE’s leadership in global humanitarian response. It shows how Dubai Humanitarian, together with UN agencies, NGOs, and government partners, delivers life-saving aid efficiently. From AI-powered logistics to human dedication, the film captures how rapid, well-coordinated operations provide hope to millions worldwide.

Dubai Humanitarian’s work in 2025 demonstrates the power of collaboration, technology, and strategy in crisis response. With a total stock of USD208.1 million, rapid airlifts, and strategic logistics, the hub continues to be a lifeline for the world’s most vulnerable populations, offering critical support in health, shelter, and water during emergencies.
