Dubai International Airport (DXB) has set a new milestone, registering 24.2 million passengers during the third quarter of 2025. This achievement marks a significant peak in its 65-year history, reflecting a 1.9% growth compared to the previous year and underscoring Dubai's rising status as a key destination for aviation and tourism.
In the first three quarters of 2025, a total of 70.1 million passengers passed through, up by 2.1% from last year, while the rolling twelve-month traffic reached an impressive 93.8 million travelers. Aircraft movements were robust, with 115,000 flights in Q3 and a total of 336,000 flights recorded from January to September, marking a 2.7% year-on-year increase. The average number of passengers per flight was noted at 213, emphasizing the airport’s operational efficiency.
Improving Passenger Amenities
To accommodate the increasing traffic, Dubai Airports has implemented various improvements across its terminals. New areas such as CB Central, CB East, and CB West in Terminal 3 offer enhanced shopping, dining, and family-oriented experiences. Terminal 1's CD Central features stunning views of the airfield, modern relaxation areas, and convenient access to top retail options, enhancing the overall travel experience.
Future Plans for Dubai World Central
Dubai Airports is also gearing up for the long-term launch of Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC), anticipated to be the main international entrance by the early 2030s. This facility aims to be a cutting-edge, sustainable, and tech-driven aviation hub that will significantly improve passenger experiences and global connectivity.
Leading Source Markets and Destinations
India consistently topped the list, contributing 8.8 million passengers in the first nine months, followed by Saudi Arabia (5.5M), the UK (4.6M), Pakistan (3.2M), and the USA (2.4M). London led among destinations with 2.8 million travelers, whereas Riyadh (2.3M), Mumbai (1.8M), Jeddah (1.7M), and New Delhi (1.6M) followed closely. There was also a notable rise in leisure travel to countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, and Denmark.
Operational Excellence
DXB achieved impressive operational benchmarks as well. In the first nine months, 63.8 million bags were handled, reflecting a 6.2% increase from the previous year, with 90% delivered within 45 minutes. Mishandled baggage rates remained a mere 0.1%. Passenger processing was efficient, with 99.6% of travelers passing through passport control in under 10 minutes and security checks taking less than 5 minutes for nearly all passengers.
The remarkable performance of Dubai International Airport in Q3 2025 reinforces its essential role as an aviation nucleus, while affirming Dubai's prominence as a premier global hub for tourism, trade, and investment, paving the way for future travel innovations.
