Dubai Marine Club Announces Second Round of Rowing Race

Dubai Marine Club Announces Second Round of Rowing Race

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Dubai International Marine Sports Club has announced the opening of registration for the second round of the Dubai Local Rowing Boats Race, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Dubai Healthcare City Promenade, Phase Two, in the Al Jaddaf area. This event is part of the club’s ongoing efforts to promote traditional marine sports and encourage wider community participation.

The organising committee confirmed that the upcoming race will include two heats for the local rowing boats category, along with two heats for the open category, which is open to teams from both government entities and private institutions. Officials also noted that the number of heats may be increased depending on how many boats register for the competition. The first round of the race witnessed strong turnout, with 42 boats competing, including 26 boats in the local category, highlighting growing interest in rowing events.

To ensure fair competition and smooth organisation, the committee has introduced several new measures for the second round. All participating boats must now clearly display load numbers on the rear side. In addition, technical inspections will be conducted before the race to confirm that boats meet safety and performance requirements. A draw will also be held to determine starting positions, ensuring transparency and equal opportunities for all competitors.

Mohammed Al Merri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the club, said the second round represents an important milestone, especially given the increasing number of participants since the first race. He added that these steps reflect Dubai’s commitment to supporting marine sports, maintaining high organisational standards, and providing a competitive yet fair environment for all rowing teams.
