Empower Unveils New Cooling Facility in Deira

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Dubai's commitment to sustainability advances further with the establishment of Empower's new district cooling facility at Deira Waterfront. This cutting-edge plant, operational now, has an impressive cooling capacity of 39,000 refrigeration tons, designed to accommodate more than 46 buildings in the thriving Deira district.

Constructed to adhere to contemporary green-building practices, the facility seamlessly integrates into the local architecture. This initiative not only beautifies the area but also reflects Dubai's dedication to sustainable urban development and energy efficiency.

Part of a broader initiative, this expansion aims to address the increasing demand for district cooling in vital areas of the emirate. Empower currently commands over 80% of Dubai's district cooling market, affirming its stature as the region's leading provider.

The Deira Waterfront project stands out as one of Dubai's premier urban developments, featuring a mix of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces. The new facility guarantees dependable and energy-saving cooling solutions for this key sector, contributing significantly towards the city’s Net-Zero Carbon Emissions target for 2050.

Empower's involvement with Deira Waterfront initiated in 2018 with a temporary cooling setup. Following its success, a permanent installation opened in 2024 to meet the area's expanding cooling needs. This facility marks a significant achievement in Dubai's drive towards smart and eco-friendly urban infrastructure.

Through its enhanced network of innovative cooling solutions, Empower is dedicated to minimizing carbon footprints and boosting energy efficiency, supporting Dubai's vision for a future that prioritizes environmental responsibility.
