Dubai Set to Launch the 1 Billion Followers Summit 2026

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Tomorrow, Dubai will kick off the 1 Billion Followers Summit 2026, an event patronized by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

Regarded as the largest festival for the creator economy globally, this three-day summit, organized by the UAE Government Media Office, will be held at Emirates Towers, DIFC, and the Museum of the Future. The 2026 theme is "Content for Good."

The summit anticipates over 30,000 attendees, including 15,000 international and local creators. More than 500 speakers will represent a collective following of 3.5 billion, including 150 top CEOs and global experts.

Attendees can look forward to over 580 sessions including keynote speeches, workshops, roundtables, and fireside chats spanning three main tracks: Economy, Content, and Technology. These discussions will delve into the future of digital media, investments, innovations, and responsible content creation.

Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, stated that the summit showcases the UAE's increasing role as a global media hub, emphasizing how digital media can create social impact through productive and meaningful content.

Focused Themes of the Summit

This year, the summit revolves around two essential themes:

1. Content for Good:

Collaborating with MrBeast, the highly followed YouTuber, the summit will introduce the "1 Billion Acts of Kindness" initiative, supported by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and the Varkey Foundation.
During the event, 10 distinguished creators will be selected to spearhead this campaign alongside MrBeast.

Additionally, the summit has teamed up with TikTok to introduce the inaugural Educators Award, which aims to elevate educational and edutainment content. Partnerships have been established with YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, X, and Meta for impactful content projects.

2. AI in Content Creation:

In partnership with Google Gemini, the summit has launched the AI Film Award, which comes with a $1 million prize. The competition saw over 30,000 submissions from 116 countries, with five films shortlisted for screening at the event. The winner will be revealed on the second day.

Empowering Creators and Start-ups

On the summit's final day, winners from the Creators Ventures Accelerator will be announced. Created by Creators HQ in association with 500 Global, this initiative helps visionary content creators and start-ups. The winning projects may receive investments and support totaling up to AED 50 million.
The accelerator received a remarkable 1,131 applications from over 70 nations.

Global Voices and Industry Leaders

This summit will also feature renowned global platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Meta, Snapchat, X, Disney+, and Twitch, discussing the creator economy's future. Key topics include AI tools, analytics, intellectual property, misinformation, and community development.

Highlighted sessions include:

  • A panel discussion featuring MrBeast and Sunny Varkey around the 1 Billion Acts of Kindness initiative on Day 1.

  • A conversation featuring comedian and creator Max Amini, along with his live performance on Day 2.

  • A fireside chat with Lara Trump, a media personality and former RNC Co-Chair.
