Emirates Introduces Comprehensive Cabin Overhaul for A380 and 777 Aircraft

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Emirates is on the verge of enhancing the travel experience across its A380 and Boeing 777 fleets, initiating a significant cabin retrofit for 60 A380s and 51 777s beginning August 2026. This initiative will feature contemporary seating configurations, upgraded Starlink Wi-Fi, and a state-of-the-art entertainment system.

Business Class Experience Elevated

Passengers in Business Class will enjoy unparalleled comfort and seclusion with seats inspired by the airline's A350 S Lounge. Features include wireless charging, customizable lighting, in-seat minibars, and various charging ports. The new 4K ice entertainment system enhances the overall long-haul travel experience.

Advancements in Premium Economy and Economy Classes

Emirates' Premium Economy will showcase Recaro’s innovative recline seats, equipped with leg rests, adjustable headrests, and side tables, seamlessly blending luxury with value. Economy Class passengers will also benefit from comfortable Safran Z400 seats designed for extended travel, featuring eight-way adjustable headrests and improved technology.

Entertainment and Connectivity Innovations

The retrofitted planes will be equipped with Panasonic's Astrova in-flight entertainment system, featuring 4K OLED HDR10+ screens and Spatial Audio for a rich auditory experience. This system is linked to Emirates' Skywards loyalty program to offer personalized content recommendations, while robust USB-C charging keeps devices energized throughout the flight. Starlink Wi-Fi will be deployed across the fleet, providing dependable internet access on all journeys.

Extensive Fleet Modernization

Since 2021, Emirates has made consistent strides in its retrofit project, with 219 aircraft slated for upgrades. Each A380 refurbishment takes approximately 22 days, while a 777 upgrade spans around 18 days, with two revamped planes being put back into service monthly. This systematic approach ensures passengers experience uniform, modern travel across the airline's extensive network.
