During an official visit to Luanda, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State, met with Angola's President João Manuel Lourenço. This meeting emphasized both countries' commitment to enhancing their bilateral ties and cooperation across various sectors.
Sheikh Shakhboot conveyed cordial regards from the UAE leadership, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Vice President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The greetings reflected the UAE's goodwill towards Angola and its citizens.
In response, President Lourenço expressed gratitude for the UAE's enduring friendship and extended his best wishes for the UAE's future progress. This reciprocal exchange underscores the mutual respect between the two nations.
The dialogue encompassed various discussions on strengthening trade, investment, energy, and cultural interactions. Both leaders recognized numerous opportunities to bolster their partnership for the benefit of their populations.
Highlighting the UAE's intention to deepen its engagement with Angola, Sheikh Shakhboot emphasized collaboration in economic diversification and sustainable development initiatives.
The discussions also addressed significant regional issues affecting Africa, particularly the Sudan situation. Sheikh Shakhboot praised Angola's influential role in promoting peace within the African Union framework and its efforts to mediate conflicts.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to fostering peace and security across Africa and globally. They acknowledged the need for humanitarian support and cooperative efforts to tackle ongoing challenges.
A strong emphasis was placed on protecting civilians and humanitarian workers in conflict areas, with both parties denouncing violations against these groups and calling for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan.
