Firdaus Women's Orchestra Set to Perform at Expo City Dubai

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Celebrating National Month and the 54th Eid Al Etihad, Expo City Dubai will host a special musical event on Tuesday, December 2, featuring the Firdaus Women’s Orchestra at the House of Arts. This event is organized by Brand Dubai, the creative division of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in collaboration with Expo City Dubai.

Under the direction of esteemed Lebanese maestro Harout Fazlian, the orchestra will perform a piece titled Zayed and Rashid, showcasing selected lines from “The People and the Leader”, a poem penned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. This performance honors the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, acknowledging their essential contributions to the formation of the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, the program will include music influenced by the UAE’s rich cultural traditions.

Brand Dubai emphasizes that the performance underscores the themes of unity and advancement that have shaped the nation, while celebrating accomplishments such as Expo City Dubai—viewed as a testament to the UAE's ambition and innovativeness. This partnership with Expo City Dubai is part of broader National Month initiatives aimed at fostering national pride and enhancing appreciation for the founding fathers.

The selection of the House of Arts as the venue underscores its expanding role as a hub for Emirati creativity. This multidisciplinary venue promotes music, performing arts, culinary traditions, and diverse cultural expressions rooted in UAE heritage and the wider Gulf region. Its programs narrate the UAE's evolution from the early days of the seven Emirates to contemporary advancements.

The Firdaus Women’s Orchestra, which rose to prominence during Expo 2020 Dubai, will gather its members for this event, marking a significant moment in the ensemble's relationship with the UAE's artistic scene, showcasing the fusion of talent, tradition, and national pride in a tribute to the country's narrative.

Last year, Brand Dubai launched the song Zayed and Rashid as part of the inaugural #ZayedAndRashid campaign. This year’s concert continues that tribute, honoring the enduring legacy of the UAE's founding leaders and the values that continue to guide the nation’s journey forward.
