Ford Issues Recall for 108,000 U.S. Vehicles Over Safety Risk

Post by : Saif Al-Najjar

Ford has initiated a significant recall impacting nearly 109,000 vehicles across the United States, following alerts from federal safety regulators about a potential hazard involving a loose component at the back of the vehicle. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed the announcement on Friday, highlighting that the problem pertains to a liftgate hinge cover that may not be properly secured.

The recall specifically affects select 2020 to 2022 Ford Escape models, as well as the recently released 2025 Escape. According to NHTSA, if the hinge cover is not correctly attached, it might detach while driving, posing a risk to other road users.

Ford dealerships will address the issue at no cost to owners, conducting inspections of the hinge cover and reinstallation or replacement if necessary. This initiative aims to minimize the risk of loose parts falling off and enhancing driver safety.

Additionally, Ford has recalled about 12,000 Lincoln MKT vehicles from 2016 to 2019, where it's reported that the trim on both the driver and front passenger doors may come loose, potentially distracting the driver or affecting vehicle control and raising crash risk.

Such recalls underscore the critical need for automakers to swiftly address safety issues. Even minor components, if allowed to come loose, can spell danger for drivers, passengers, and others nearby. Ford’s proactive measures, including complimentary repairs, reflect its commitment to ensuring customer safety.

The automotive sector has witnessed numerous recalls in recent years, primarily linked to minor issues that could escalate into severe safety risks if disregarded. This recent recall serves as a reminder to drivers to remain vigilant about recalls and seek repairs when necessary.

As one of the oldest and largest car manufacturers in the United States, Ford faces considerable competition. Prioritizing safety, maintaining a strong reputation, and building customer trust are vital elements for the brand. With swift action on these safety concerns, Ford aims to emphasize its dedication to fixing issues before they lead to unfortunate incidents.

Owners of the affected Ford Escape and Lincoln MKT models should reach out to their local dealers for a complimentary inspection. Prompt action can aid in preventing accidents and ensuring vehicles are safe for continued use.
