Abu Dhabi, UAE – Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, attended a panel led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, at the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2025 in Abu Dhabi.
The session included a number of senior UAE officials, among them H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court; H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman; H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah; along with other dignitaries from across the Emirates.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi stressed that human development and empowerment are central to Fujairah’s strategy, with all programs aimed at building people’s capabilities. He noted that a clear sense of identity and awareness is the foundation for collective advancement, citing the UAE as an example of resilience and unity on the world stage.
Education was identified as a primary pillar for future growth. The Crown Prince described it as the bedrock of sustainable progress, supported by projects such as the Fujairah Research Centre, the Emirati Researchers initiative and the Fujairah Young Techpreneurs program. He added that scientific research and innovation are critical to managing resources and driving national development.
On sports, Sheikh Mohammed Al Sharqi characterised athletics as “a lifestyle,” promoting health and local pride. He highlighted Fujairah’s achievements in martial arts and marine sports, which bolster the emirate’s reputation as an active sporting destination.
He reiterated that youth are the emirate’s most valuable investment, pointing to leadership and skills programs, language initiatives and international scholarship opportunities that equip young people to take on future responsibilities.
Discussing government transformation, the Crown Prince said the Fujairah Government prioritises “investing in people to raise quality of life and productivity.” Initiatives such as the Fujairah Government Excellence Award and the Mohammed bin Hamad Program for Leadership Development, together with strategic public-private partnerships, reflect this approach and foster innovation.
Tourism and culture were described as complementary pillars of Fujairah’s identity. The Crown Prince noted that the emirate pursues a tourism model rooted in sustainability, cultural authenticity and community involvement, evident in developments like the Fujairah Adventure Centre and Adventure Park.
“Tourism allows us to share our values and traditions through direct experiences,” he said, framing travel as an exchange that promotes mutual understanding.
On cultural policy, Sheikh Mohammed Al Sharqi called culture “the bridge between minds,” reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to coexistence and peaceful exchange. He emphasised the ongoing responsibility to safeguard Emirati identity, Arab heritage, and Islamic values amid rapid change.
In closing, he remarked: “Embedding a sense of belonging, patriotism and responsibility in our youth will ensure they safeguard our national identity when faced with future challenges.”
