UAE Unveils First Independent SAF Testing Facility in Fujairah

In a significant advancement for clean fuel initiatives, the UAE is moving forward with MENA Biofuels' partnership with Saybolt International to create the nation's first independent Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) testing and certification lab in Fujairah. This development follows critical industry collaborations highlighted during ADIPEC 2025, signifying the nation's steadfast commitment to aviation decarbonisation.

Set to be located within the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, this facility will adhere to globally recognized testing and certification protocols. Upon its launch, it will offer independent verification, guaranteeing that each SAF batch produced in the UAE meets stringent international aviation fuel standards, catering to both local airlines and international export markets. This initiative is seen as vital in establishing a transparent and fully traceable SAF value chain nationwide.

This agreement is part of a broader series of alliances MENA Biofuels has forged with prominent energy firms at ADIPEC 2025 and the Dubai Airshow. Recent supply agreements with Emarat, ENOC, ADNOC, and Evertree have laid a robust framework for an integrated ecosystem that encompasses feedstock sourcing, production, testing, certification, and airline delivery. Collectively, these initiatives showcase the UAE’s expanding influence in pioneering the future of cleaner aviation fuel in the region.

With plans to integrate cutting-edge instruments for fuel analysis, emission verification, and feedstock traceability, Fujairah is poised to become a premier center for SAF certification. This project also aligns with the UAE’s preparations for launching its first commercial SAF production facility in the emirate—signifying an important step toward establishing the UAE as a regional hub for sustainable fuel innovation and quality assurance for export.
