The Sultanate of Oman participated in the joint Gulf-Canadian Ministerial Meeting held in Manama, Bahrain, as Gulf Cooperation Council member states and Canada sought to strengthen diplomatic and economic partnerships amid growing global challenges.
The Omani delegation was led by Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, who joined fellow GCC foreign ministers and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand for discussions focused on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. The meeting was hosted by Bahrain under its current presidency of the GCC Ministerial Council.
During the talks, ministers explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in economic development, scientific research, education, innovation and cultural exchange. Both sides emphasized the importance of creating new pathways for investment, trade and technological cooperation that can benefit their respective economies.
The meeting also provided a platform to exchange experiences and discuss strategies aimed at promoting sustainable growth. Participants highlighted the need to encourage innovation and strengthen partnerships capable of addressing future economic and developmental challenges.
Regional and international developments featured prominently on the agenda. Ministers reviewed ongoing geopolitical issues and expressed concern over conflicts and tensions that continue to threaten stability and security in various parts of the world.
