GEMS SRI Launched as UAE’s Leading AI-Integrated Campus

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, officially opened the GEMS School of Research and Innovation (SRI) — a purpose-built campus designed to advance learning through artificial intelligence, sustainability and hands-on creativity.

Set in Dubai Sports City across some 47,600 square metres, SRI delivers an AI-first learning setting aimed at fostering experimentation and invention. During the opening, Sheikh Mansoor inspected the campus’ modern facilities intended to prepare students for leadership in creative and technological fields.

Central to the site is the Research Hub, a three-storey vertical learning centre that replaces a conventional library with a collaborative research environment. The hub links students across ages through robotics workshops, Extended Reality studios, 360° digital lounges and innovation spaces designed to boost inquiry and analytical skills.

The campus features the UAE’s first fully AI-integrated ecosystem, equipping educators with AI-driven tools to tailor instruction and stimulate classroom innovation. Learners interact with humanoid and quadruped robots and can enrol in the region’s inaugural Esports and Game Design Academy. Facilities include engineering labs with Formula 1 and karting simulators as well as a forward-looking FoodTec Lab using hydroponics and 3D food printing for applied learning.

Sustainability is embedded in the LEED Gold-certified campus. Approximately 30% of its electricity comes from solar installations, while rainwater harvesting, intelligent lighting and hydroponic gardens support everyday environmental practice.

Beyond technology, SRI promotes rounded development. The campus includes an Olympic-size pool, a FIFA-certified football pitch, an athletics track and professional-grade music and media studios that combine academic and extracurricular growth. Its All-Steinway Premier Music Academy and industry-standard Media Suite enable students to produce broadcast-quality news segments, podcasts and performances.

Collaborations with global partners such as Microsoft, HP, KUKA Robotics, Kawasaki Robotics and EON Reality underline the school’s industry links. The launch represents a significant step in GEMS Education’s drive to set new standards for AI-enabled, sustainable and innovation-led schooling in the UAE.
