In alignment with the #HattaWinter initiative, Dubai Municipality has reintroduced the highly anticipated Hatta Honey Festival, underscoring its dedication to advancing agri-tourism, local craftsmanship, and sustainable rural advancement.
Open to the public at Hatta Hall until December 31, 2025, the festival allows attendees to explore a lively environment featuring beekeepers, honey makers, and entrepreneurial ventures, while celebrating Hatta's lush natural setting and agricultural heritage.
This festival aims to establish Hatta as a premier eco- and agri-tourism hotspot. By integrating production, education, testing, and retail into a single venue, it provides direct economic benefits for Emirati producers, small businesses, and family-run operations, reinforcing Hatta's role within Dubai's larger tourism and economic scene.
With more than 50 indoor booths featuring local beekeepers and honey providers, plus 10 outdoor booths for retail and local brands, visitors will also find areas for workshops, a traditional majlis, a comfortable indoor lounge, live cultural showcases, child-friendly zones, and four food trucks, ensuring a memorable winter outing for all.
Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafee, CEO of the Environment, Health, and Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality, emphasized that the festival showcases the authority’s commitment to fostering sustainable agri-tourism and empowering local producers. He highlighted the blend of education, culture, and entertainment that supports the local economy and aligns with Dubai’s vision for sustainable tourism and agriculture.
A significant feature this year is the involvement of the Dubai Central Laboratory, which presents a comprehensive platform for honey quality testing. Equipped with cutting-edge infrared technology, it can perform vital quality and safety tests within a minute. The lab adheres to a thorough testing framework encompassing up to 512 certified tests, enhancing consumer trust and assuring food safety standards.
To complement Dubai Municipality's goals for digital innovation, the lab showcases an advanced sample reception method utilizing smart technology. Honey samples are managed via an automated robotic system, ensuring precise and compliant handling of samples without human contact.
In conjunction with the festival, Dubai Municipality will launch an innovative project aimed at documenting the quality of Emirati honey. This initiative will develop a unique laboratory identifier and digital profile for local honey, validating its type, origin, and quality through high-tech scientific testing. A collaborative agreement with the Hatta Traders Council will kickstart this groundbreaking project in the UAE.
More than just trade and technology, the Hatta Honey Festival serves as a vibrant winter community hub. Encompassing interactive workshops, educational presentations, and live entertainment in both indoor and outdoor environments, it elevates the quality of life, promotes entrepreneurship, and fosters community involvement.
This event is part of a larger initiative for the Hatta region, focusing on economic diversification, empowering Emirati businesspeople, and carving out sustainable investment opportunities in agriculture and small-scale industries while upholding the highest quality and safety standards.
