Indonesia's Haj Operations Maintain Schedule Amid Tensions

Indonesia's Haj Operations Maintain Schedule Amid Tensions

Post by : Shakul

Indonesia’s haj flights are set to continue as planned, despite increasing tensions across the Middle East related to the ongoing disputes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Authorities have confirmed that the final preparations are underway, with the initial group of pilgrims anticipated to depart on April 22.

The government has guaranteed that all precautions necessary for a secure journey are in effect. Officials have stated that while the Middle Eastern situation is under close surveillance, it is not likely to hinder haj activities.

For the 2026 haj season, Indonesia's quota stands at 221,000 pilgrims, marking one of the largest delegations globally. Most pilgrims are aged between 41 and 64, with a notable number of senior participants aged 65 and older also preparing for the journey.

The first group will head to Medina starting April 22, followed by another group scheduled for May 7 to Jeddah. Preparations include training sessions that replicate pilgrimage rituals, enabling participants to acclimate to the process before arriving in Saudi Arabia.

Despite the political climate, many pilgrims express optimism about their journey, believing that the current conflict will not impact their pilgrimage plans, as the contested areas are distant from the haj routes.

Officials have reiterated their dedication to the safety and comfort of all pilgrims while maintaining collaboration with international bodies. The haj season, coordinated for May 24 to 29, is progressing with full preparedness.

The commitment to maintaining haj departures illustrates Indonesia’s effective organizational capabilities and its resolve to support the religious practices of its citizens despite global challenges.
