IndiGo Flight Delays Following Pilot’s Duty Hour Dispute

IndiGo Flight Delays Following Pilot’s Duty Hour Dispute

Post by : Meena Hassan

A situation turned chaotic on an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Krabi early Thursday when the pilot allegedly refused to fly beyond his designated duty hours. The flight, 6E 1085, which was set to depart at 4:05 am, experienced a delay exceeding three hours.

Footage captured during the delay reveals passengers engaged in heated discussions with crew members. Some travelers accused the pilot of evading his responsibilities as they cited his duty hours had concluded. One video showed a passenger decrying their disrupted travel plans, while another voiced frustration over the pilot's alleged absence. Further tensions rose as a passenger was filmed kicking the plane's exit door.

An IndiGo representative clarified that the delay stemmed from several issues: the late arrival of the previous flight, air traffic congestion, and crew exceeding allowable working hours. Additionally, two individuals were deemed unruly during the wait and were removed from the aircraft by security, compounding the delay.

The airline assured customers that meals and refreshments were supplied during the extended wait. IndiGo reiterated its commitment to safety and fostering a respectful atmosphere while issuing an apology for the delays encountered.

Flight tracking information indicated the aircraft, originally expected to land in Krabi at 10 am, finally touched down at around 1 pm, leaving passengers relieved, albeit frustrated, at the eventual arrival.
