Post by : Bianca Haleem

Iran has publicly showcased its Shahed-136 attack drones and Zolfaqar ballistic missiles at Freedom Square, also known as Azadi Square, in Tehran. The exhibition featured some of the country's most recognised domestically produced weapons systems, drawing public attention at a time of continued geopolitical tensions across the Middle East.

The public display highlighted key elements of Iran's military arsenal and reflected the country's focus on presenting its defence capabilities through locally developed military technology.

Among the military equipment displayed were the Shahed-136, a long-range loitering munition, and the Zolfaqar, a short-range ballistic missile developed by Iran.

Iranian authorities organised the exhibition to showcase the country's defence industry and its domestically produced military systems. The display was intended to present Iran's indigenous weapons technology to the public.

Exhibition Takes Place During Heightened Regional Tensions

The military exhibition comes as security concerns remain high across the Middle East following recent conflicts involving Iran, Israel and other regional players.

The public display has attracted attention as the region continues to experience military and diplomatic uncertainty after months of heightened tensions.

Display Seen as a Signal of Military Readiness

According to analysts, public exhibitions of military equipment are often used to demonstrate defence preparedness, reinforce deterrence and highlight a country's strategic military capabilities to both domestic and international audiences.

The display at Azadi Square is being viewed in the context of the current regional security environment, where military developments continue to draw close international attention.
