Towns was instrumental in the pivotal second quarter, contributing seven points during a stretch where the Knicks outscored their opponents 42-14. This win marks the Knicks' impressive 2-0 start, their best since the 2021-22 season.
Jalen Brunson topped the score sheet with 31 points, while Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Miles McBride added valuable contributions with 12, 10, and 10 points respectively. Anunoby's entire scoring came during the explosive second quarter. Returning from a back injury, Josh Hart made his presence felt off the bench with 14 rebounds in just 18 minutes, providing a significant lift.
The Celtics began with strong momentum, quickly scoring the first six points and maintaining an early lead for most of the first quarter. Jaylen Brown netted 23 points, Sam Hauser added 18, Derrick White contributed 15, and Anfernee Simons pitched in with 10 off the bench. Boston led 30-22 by the end of the first quarter, showing promising control of the game.
