KSrelief and Saudi Reef Sign Sustainable Farming Pact

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) and the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) have signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote sustainable farming and strengthen humanitarian and development work in Saudi Arabia. The agreement was witnessed by Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor-General of KSrelief, and Mansour Al-Mushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture. This partnership marks an important step toward improving agricultural productivity and environmental balance across rural areas.

Joint Efforts to Boost Agriculture

Under this agreement, KSrelief and Saudi Reef will work together to support sustainable agricultural development and create better opportunities for rural communities. Both organizations will focus on transferring agricultural knowledge, localizing modern technologies, and encouraging innovative farming practices that protect the environment. The collaboration aims to ensure food security while also improving the living conditions of people who depend on farming for their livelihood.

Focus on Knowledge and Technology Sharing

A key part of this partnership is to promote knowledge exchange between experts, researchers, and local farmers. KSrelief and Saudi Reef will develop programs to share successful farming methods, introduce efficient irrigation techniques, and make use of renewable resources. By adopting advanced agricultural tools and digital solutions, the two sides hope to increase productivity while reducing waste and environmental harm. This also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of sustainability and innovation in food systems.

Research and Capacity Building Plans

The memorandum also includes plans for joint scientific research and training. Specialized teams will be formed to study new techniques in sustainable agriculture, soil conservation, and water management. In addition, both organizations will work on training local farmers, agricultural engineers, and young professionals. These capacity-building programs will help develop a new generation of experts capable of implementing sustainable practices across the country.

Monitoring and Implementation Framework

To ensure the success of the agreement, a joint working team will be established. This team will oversee project implementation, design detailed action plans, and monitor progress. Regular evaluations will be conducted to measure the impact of each initiative. The framework will help maintain transparency and ensure that all goals are achieved effectively. The team will also look for ways to expand successful projects to other regions of the Kingdom in the future.

Maximizing Developmental Impact

By combining KSrelief’s humanitarian experience and Saudi Reef’s expertise in agricultural development, this cooperation is expected to create a long-term positive impact. It will help farmers increase their income, strengthen food security, and support environmental protection. The agreement reflects Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to building a sustainable rural economy that benefits both people and the planet. Through such collaborations, the Kingdom continues to lead regional efforts toward a greener and more sustainable future.
