Kuwait Customs Foils Drug Smuggling Attempt From London

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Kuwait Customs authorities have successfully prevented an attempt to smuggle a suspected synthetic narcotic, commonly known as "chemical," into the country after intercepting a postal parcel that had arrived from London, United Kingdom.

The operation was carried out by the Customs Investigation and Search Department of the General Administration of Customs in close coordination with the General Administration for Drug Control. Officials said the parcel came under suspicion during routine monitoring, prompting surveillance and detailed investigations that ultimately led to the discovery of the suspected narcotic.

Parcel Contained Drug-Soaked Paper Sheets

According to the authorities, the intercepted parcel weighed approximately 800 grams. During the inspection, officers found several A4-sized paper sheets that had been soaked in a liquid believed to contain the suspected synthetic drug. The unusual concealment method was identified during the customs examination, leading investigators to seize the shipment before it could be be collected.

Recipient Arrested During Controlled Operation

As part of the operation, officers allowed the delivery process to continue under surveillance. When the intended recipient arrived to collect the parcel, personnel from the General Administration for Drug Control moved in and arrested the suspect on the spot.

Following the arrest, legal procedures were immediately initiated. Authorities confirmed that both the suspect and the seized materials have been referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the attempted smuggling operation.

Kuwait Customs Reaffirms Anti-Smuggling Efforts

Kuwait Customs reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inspection and monitoring procedures at all entry points to prevent prohibited substances from entering the country. The authority said it will continue working closely with security and anti-drug agencies to detect smuggling attempts, enforce customs regulations, and protect public safety.
