Mild 3.6-Magnitude Quake Near Vallejo Rattles Bay Area

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 hit close to Vallejo, California, on Thursday afternoon, generating light tremors that were noticeable in various Bay Area cities. The incident occurred at 12:41 PM Pacific Time, with the epicenter located roughly 2 miles south of Vallejo, per initial seismic reports.

Residents in Berkeley, Benicia, Hercules, and Richmond experienced quick, sharp vibrations, but no immediate damage or injuries have been reported. Nearby areas described the sensation as a brief jolt accompanied by slight ground movement.

Seismologists indicated that preliminary observations could be revised as more information becomes available and subsequent reports on shake intensity are analyzed. While minor earthquakes of this kind are frequent in the area, they underscore the seismic reality of California’s intricate fault lines.

Officials reiterated that despite the quake's small scale, it's vital for residents to stay informed about earthquake safety measures and ensure their emergency kits and preparedness plans are current.
