Mleiha National Park has been shortlisted for the “Middle East’s Leading National Park 2026” award at the 33rd World Travel Awards. The nomination places Sharjah’s leading heritage and ecotourism destination among the Middle East’s most recognised protected national parks.
The park is one of only five national parks competing in this regional category. It is also the only representative from the United Arab Emirates, making the nomination an important recognition of the country's natural and cultural heritage.
Mleiha National Park is located within the core area of the Al Faya Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The nomination highlights the park’s continued efforts to protect the UAE’s archaeological heritage while offering visitors high-quality experiences in ecotourism, education, and adventure tourism.
Its inclusion in the awards reflects its focus on preserving historical sites while promoting sustainable tourism in one of the Arabian Peninsula’s most significant archaeological landscapes.
The World Travel Awards are regarded as one of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industry's most respected international award programmes. The awards recognise excellence and leadership in destination management and tourism development across the world.
Mleiha National Park’s nomination highlights its growing reputation as a destination that brings together heritage conservation, environmental protection, educational experiences, and sustainable tourism.
Voting for the Middle East’s Leading National Park 2026 category remains open until 31 July 2026. As the UAE’s only nominee in this category, every vote supports efforts to showcase the country's natural landscapes and cultural heritage at the regional level.
