Mubadala Bio Opens New Facility, Launches Cancer Medicines

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Mubadala Bio has announced the opening of a new high-potency manufacturing facility at its subsidiary, Bioventure Healthcare, along with the launch of three important oncology medicines. Some of these medicines are being produced locally in the UAE for the first time as branded generic products. This step supports the country’s goal of strengthening its pharmaceutical industry and ensuring steady access to vital treatments.

The new facility is specially built to safely manufacture high-potency drugs, including cancer and hormone medicines. It follows the highest international safety and quality standards, making it suitable for handling complex and sensitive products used in advanced medical care.

The first medicines launched from this facility include Lenalidomide, used to treat myeloma, a type of blood cancer; Pomalidomide, which is now locally produced in the UAE for the first time and used to treat multiple myeloma; and Sunitinib, a targeted treatment for certain advanced cancers. These medicines are widely used in cancer care and are essential for many patients.

By producing these medicines locally, Mubadala Bio is helping improve drug security in the UAE. Local production ensures a continuous supply of essential treatments, reduces dependence on imports, and offers more affordable options for patients and healthcare providers across the country.

Senior officials at Mubadala Bio said this achievement supports the growth of the UAE’s life sciences sector. They added that investing in local manufacturing helps expand access to critical medicines, improves healthcare outcomes, and strengthens the national medical supply system. This initiative reflects Mubadala Bio’s long-term commitment to building a strong and sustainable healthcare ecosystem in the UAE.
