Oman Achieves 80% Growth in Digital Government Performance

Post by : Mumtaaz Qadiri

Oman’s national digital program, called “Tahawul”, has made great progress. By the end of May 2025, the program showed an 80% increase in performance. This means that the government is getting much better at offering online services to people.

Compared to the same time last year, there has been a 19% improvement in quality. This shows that Oman is moving quickly towards becoming a fully digital government.

Government Offices Are More Ready for Technology

Government offices in Oman are now much more ready to use digital tools. By June 2025, their readiness level reached 81%, and their digital infrastructure (the technology and systems needed) reached 86%.

This helps them give better online services. Also, 96% of the top government services have been simplified. This means people can get help faster and with fewer steps.

Many Services Have Been Made Digital

Oman has worked hard to put government services online. About 74% of important services are now fully digital.

From January to May 2025, 48 government offices completed more than 11.4 million online transactions. These are things like applying for documents, paying bills, or asking for services through websites or apps.

Simplifying Services with Special Labs

To make services simpler, Oman used “Manjam Labs”—special places where experts meet to improve how things are done. They improved 381 government services by cutting down on paperwork and reducing waiting time.

The goal is to make everything easier and faster for the public.

New One-Stop Portal for Government Services

A new government website portal has been launched. It brings together services from different departments in one place. So far, it offers 23 services and has been used by 35,746 people, with 3,905 service requests completed.

The portal also includes a sign language video library to help people with hearing disabilities.

Online Payments Are Growing Fast

Oman has also improved how people can pay the government online. The national system, OmanNet, handled 14.5 million digital payments in just the first three months of 2025.

This helps make paying for services faster, safer, and easier for everyone. It also reduces the risk of mistakes or fraud.

Digital Document System Is Being Used More

The Wusool system, which stores and shares government documents digitally, is now used by over 17,000 people. These users created more than 1.5 million digital documents in 20 government agencies.

This helps reduce the need for paper and makes it easier for different offices to work together.

Secure Login and Data Sharing Are Improving

In the same time period, there were 1.57 million digital logins using secure systems. Also, more than 163 million pieces of data were safely shared between government departments through the National Electronic Integration Platform.

This makes services faster and more accurate.

Training and Public Meetings Help Spread Awareness

Oman also held over 90 training sessions and community meetings. These events helped people understand how to use online services.

They also gave feedback on how services could be better. This helps make sure the digital programs meet people’s needs.

Government Officials Are Pleased With the Progress

Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shidhani, head of the digital program committee, said that the results show strong cooperation between government agencies. Everyone is working together to make services easier, faster, and better.

He also said this success is part of Oman’s goal to build a digital future that benefits all citizens.

Digital Services Help Citizens Save Time

Thanks to these improvements, many people in Oman can now do things online that used to require long waits and visits to offices. For example, people can now apply for services, send documents, and make payments online—without leaving home.

This saves time, energy, and travel costs for citizens.

The Plan Matches Oman Vision 2040

The digital transformation is part of Oman’s long-term plan called Vision 2040. This plan aims to make Oman a modern and tech-ready country.

By improving digital services, the government is making life easier for people and helping businesses grow faster.

More Digital Services Are Coming Soon

The government is planning to make even more services available online. They also want to make systems even safer and faster.

More work will be done to train staff, improve technology, and help more citizens learn how to use digital tools.

Simple Government Services for All

The goal of Tahawul is to make sure that all people in Oman can access government services easily, whether they live in cities or rural areas.

By offering services in one place and using simple language, the government makes sure no one is left behind.

Oman Is Becoming a Digital Leader

Oman’s digital transformation is helping people, improving services, and making the government more modern. With an 80% improvement in performance, Oman is now one of the leaders in using technology to help citizens.

This progress shows that when a country has a clear plan and works together, big improvements can happen. Oman is well on its way to becoming a fully digital nation.
