Development Spending Crosses OMR 188 Million
Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology recorded more than OMR 188 million in development spending from January through the end of the third quarter of 2026. The spending covered development projects across transport, communications and information technology.
Road Projects Receive Largest Share
Road projects accounted for around 68% of the total approved liquidity, making them the largest area of development spending. Several major road projects across Oman received funding during the period.

Major Musandam Road Project Leads Spending
The Sultan Faisal bin Turki Road project in Musandam Governorate, covering the Dibba-Khasab and Lima Link, recorded spending of more than OMR 32 million. It was followed by the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road project, covering the Adam-Thumrait dual carriageway, with spending of around OMR 24 million.
Al Mughsail Bridge Project Gets OMR 9 Million
The Al Mughsail Bridge dual carriageway project was another major development project, with spending reaching around OMR 9 million. The ministry also allocated funds for Al Mouj area development, November 18th Street, airport projects and projects transferred to its jurisdiction.
OMR 8 Million Spent on Climate-Related Repairs
The ministry said around OMR 8 million was spent during 2026 to repair infrastructure damage caused by climatic conditions. The ministry said it is directing financial resources toward development priorities while improving the management of liquidity, payments and obligations.
Ministry Revenue Rises by OMR 3.48 Million
Actual revenues collected by the ministry from the beginning of 2026 through the end of July reached about OMR 29.09 million. This represented an increase of more than OMR 3.48 million compared with the same period in 2025.
Digital Transformation and Financial Management
The ministry is also developing its financial management systems and digitizing procedures related to development project payments. Bank guarantee classification has reached around 60% completion, while archiving of development project documents has reached about 65%.
2026 Appointments Strengthen Workforce
As part of its 2026 human resources plan, the ministry appointed 79 employees to permanent positions, 33 under project contracts and 475 under share contracts across different divisions. Another 18 employees were appointed to supervisory positions during the year
