Oman Helps Repatriate Crew of Eternity C Vessel from Yemen

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Sultanate of Oman has successfully facilitated the repatriation of the crew members of the vessel Eternity C as part of its continuous humanitarian efforts in Yemen. This action reflects Oman’s steady commitment to supporting people affected by regional challenges and providing assistance whenever needed.

The operation involved the safe transfer of eleven crew members from Sana’a to Muscat. The sailors, who belong to the Philippines and India, were transported aboard a Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) aircraft. Their arrival in Muscat marks the first stage of their journey, after which they will return to their home countries to reunite with their families. Oman’s coordinated efforts ensured that the crew received care, support and safe passage after a difficult period in Yemen.

Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of Labour of the Philippines, expressed deep appreciation for the humanitarian action undertaken by Oman. He extended heartfelt thanks to the Government of Oman and to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for the continuous efforts that made the crew’s release possible. He also shared his pleasure in visiting Oman and highlighted the warm hospitality extended to him during his stay.

Cacdac praised the strong relations between Oman and the Philippines, especially in the labor sector, where cooperation has always been positive and constructive. He noted the presence of a large Filipino community working in Oman and stressed the importance of good relations that benefit workers and strengthen ties between both countries.

From the Indian side, Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, Ambassador of India to Oman, emphasized the long and deep historical relationship between Oman and India. He explained that the two nations share over 70 years of diplomatic relations supported by economic partnership, maritime links and cultural understanding. The ambassador stated that both countries work closely in many fields and continue to build strong cooperation based on mutual respect.

He expressed India’s gratitude for Oman’s extensive efforts in securing the release of the Indian crew member. He acknowledged the role played by Omani authorities in coordinating with various parties to ensure a safe and smooth repatriation process.

The Indian crew member, Anel Kumar, shared his overwhelming happiness after being released. He thanked the Sultanate of Oman for its support, saying that the assistance he received has given him the chance to begin his journey home. His statement reflected the relief and joy felt by all the crew members after being freed.

Julimo Taberos, one of the Filipino crew members, also expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of Oman and to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. He said that he is eager to return to his country and reunite with his family after a challenging time away from home.

The successful repatriation carried out by Oman highlights the country’s humanitarian role in the region. Through calm diplomacy, reliable cooperation and respect for human life, Oman continues to play a key part in resolving sensitive situations. The country’s efforts reflect its commitment to supporting international partners and protecting individuals caught in difficult circumstances.

This operation stands as another example of Oman’s well-known values: compassion, responsibility and peaceful cooperation. The safe return of the Eternity C crew members will remain an important moment for both the sailors and their families, who now look forward to restoring normal life after their ordeal.
