Oman Showcases Culture at Riyadh International Book Fair 2025

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Sultanate of Oman is participating in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2025, which began in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will continue until October 11. Oman's presence at the fair reflects its commitment to promoting culture, literature, and intellectual exchange at both regional and international levels.

Omani Pavilion and Cultural Exhibits

Oman’s pavilion features a wide range of cultural and intellectual publications from various institutions. Exhibits include works from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth; the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs; the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism; Sultan Qaboos University; and the National Records and Archives Authority. Private Omani publishing houses and libraries are also showcasing their works, highlighting the diversity of Omani literature.

Strengthening Regional and International Ties

Oman’s participation in the fair aims to strengthen cultural and intellectual ties with Saudi Arabia. The country seeks to ensure Omani books are present at Arab and international book fairs, promoting cultural communication and highlighting Omani contributions to literature and scholarship worldwide.

Scale and Participation of the Book Fair

The Riyadh International Book Fair 2025 brings together around 2,000 publishing houses from over 25 countries. The fair attracts writers, intellectuals, and readers, offering cultural programmes that showcase Arab literary and cultural interests. The event serves as a major platform for dialogue, learning, and creative exchange.

Cultural Programmes and Activities

This year’s fair features more than 200 activities, including workshops, lectures, dialogue sessions, panels, and a children’s cultural platform. These initiatives aim to develop young people’s skills, encourage innovation, and engage children in literary and recreational activities.

Business Zone and Professional Exchange

The book fair includes a dedicated "Business Zone" for specialized workshops and discussion panels on topics such as books, publishing, copyright, and licensing. This zone provides a space for professionals in the writing and publishing industry to interact, share knowledge, and explore potential collaborations.

Opportunities for Collaboration

Visitors to the fair have opportunities to meet authors, intellectuals, and other stakeholders. The event encourages the signing of memoranda of understanding and exploration of cultural initiatives presented by official institutions, universities, and community organizations. Oman’s participation highlights its commitment to fostering intellectual exchange and cultural cooperation.

Showcasing Omani Literature Globally

Through its participation, Oman is not only promoting its own literature and culture but also showcasing its heritage to a global audience. The pavilion and cultural programmes demonstrate the country’s dedication to intellectual growth, education, and creative innovation.

Impact on Regional Cultural Dialogue

Oman’s presence at the fair reinforces its role in regional cultural dialogue. By engaging with other Arab and international participants, Oman contributes to strengthening literary and educational ties, promoting the Arabic language, and celebrating cultural diversity in the Arab world.
