The Spanish player continued her strong performance in the second set. She earned the first break of Mikulskite’s serve in the third game before breaking again in the seventh game. Badosa went on to close out the set 6-2 and complete the match.

Next Opponent Jasmine Ortenzi

Badosa will face Argentina’s Jasmine Ortenzi in the second round. Ortenzi booked her place in the next stage after defeating France’s Chloe Paquet 6-3, 6-2.

First WTA Tour Meeting

The upcoming match will be the first meeting between Badosa and Ortenzi on the WTA Tour. The encounter will give both players an opportunity to establish an early advantage in their head-to-head record.

Badosa’s progression keeps the tournament’s top seed in contention as the Sao Paulo Open moves into its next stage. Her straight-sets victory also sets up a new challenge against Ortenzi in the round of 16.

International Tennis Spotlight

The Sao Paulo Open continues to bring together players from different countries as competition progresses through the draw. Badosa’s advancement adds further interest to the tournament as she looks to continue her run in Brazil.
