Tadej Pogačar Wins Tre Valli Varesine for UAE Team Emirates

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Returning to racing in his rainbow jersey, Tadej Pogačar secured a remarkable victory at Tre Valli Varesine for UAE Team Emirates-XRG. This win marks his first race victory with the team since his triumphs at both the World Championships and European Championships.

Decisive Attack on Montello Climb

The 27-year-old Slovenian launched a smart solo attack with 22km to ride, separating himself from the elite group. His effort extended his lead to over a minute, allowing him to cross the finish line unchallenged. Pogačar’s timing and strength highlighted his tactical intelligence and world-class endurance.

Team Success and UAE Victory Count

This victory represents UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s 91st win of the 2025 season, reinforcing their dominance in professional cycling. Teammate Isaac del Toro also performed impressively, finishing eighth and contributing to the team’s overall success and strong presence in the race.

Race Dynamics and Strategy

Both Pogačar and Del Toro were part of a leading group with just under 30km remaining. Pogačar’s decisive move came on the descent of the Montello climb. From this point, he maintained a steady pace, expanding his advantage over rivals while conserving energy for the final kilometers.

Second Victory at Tre Valli Varesine

This marks Pogačar’s second victory at Tre Valli Varesine. Last season, he was unable to defend his title due to heavy rain canceling the race. His return this year fulfilled his promise to compete again, demonstrating consistency and resilience.

Pogačar appears in strong form as the season approaches its final Monument, Il Lombardia, scheduled for Saturday. His performance at Tre Valli Varesine indicates readiness to challenge for more victories and maintain momentum through the closing events of the season.

Rider’s Reflections on Victory

Pogačar explained his approach: “The plan was to wait for the final lap and arrive in a good place. Tudor went early, opening the race. Del Toro and I attacked on one of the climbs. On the downhill, I pushed hard, knowing Isaac could still secure a strong finish behind me. It was a very good situation, and we made it work.”

The success underscores the importance of teamwork and strategy in cycling. Del Toro’s support allowed Pogačar to ride with confidence, while careful planning and timing ensured a clear path to victory. UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s coordinated efforts continue to deliver impressive results across international races.
