Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates-XRG won the UCI World Championships Road Race for the second consecutive year. The Slovenian cyclist launched a solo attack with 66 kilometers remaining and maintained his lead until the finish line, proving his dominance and skill.

This victory ensures that UAE Team Emirates-XRG will continue to wear the prestigious rainbow jersey in the upcoming season, reinforcing the team’s international prominence in road cycling.

Challenging Course in Kigali

The 2025 Road Race, hosted in Kigali, Rwanda, featured a demanding circuit that tested all riders. The course included tough climbs, cobbled sections, and technical descents, providing a perfect stage for a dramatic and tactical race.

Spectators lined the roads to witness the action, creating a festive and energetic atmosphere that elevated the race experience for both athletes and fans.

Early Attacks and Team Support

Pogačar began putting pressure on his rivals over 100 kilometers from the finish. Only his teammates, Isaac del Toro and Juan Ayuso, were able to keep pace with him. The trio broke away from the peloton, showcasing their collective strength and strategic coordination on Kigali’s defining climbs.

Their effort created a gap that would prove decisive in the final standings, demonstrating the importance of teamwork even in individual championship events.

Race Dynamics and Key Moments

As the breakaway continued, Pogačar gradually distanced his companions and strengthened his solo lead. The peloton struggled to organize an effective chase, allowing the Slovenian to maintain his advantage despite challenging terrain and changing race conditions.

The race highlighted the tactical brilliance of Pogačar and the skillful execution of UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s strategy.

Final Results and Podium

Pogačar crossed the finish line with a winning time of 6 hours, 21 minutes, and 20 seconds. Belgian rider Remco Evenepoel finished in second place, trailing by 1 minute and 28 seconds, while Irishman Ben Healy claimed third, finishing 2 minutes and 16 seconds behind.

The podium reflected a combination of endurance, tactical intelligence, and race-day form, with Pogačar asserting his status as one of the sport’s elite competitors.

Significance for UAE Team Emirates-XRG

This victory strengthens UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s reputation in world cycling. The team’s consistent performance in international competitions and strategic support for Pogačar highlight its growing influence in professional road racing.

The rainbow jersey victory is not only a personal achievement for Pogačar but also a major accomplishment for the team and its sponsors, attracting global attention to their cycling program.

Pogačar’s consecutive wins at the UCI World Championships Road Race cement his legacy as one of cycling’s leading talents. Fans and analysts now look forward to how he will continue to perform in future WorldTour events and major classics, with expectations high for both individual and team achievements.

His tactical prowess, combined with UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s strong support structure, positions them as a dominant force in international cycling for years to come.
