Prada Reinvents Menswear with Luxury Leather Jeans-Inspired Looks

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Luxury fashion house Prada introduced its latest menswear collection during Milan Fashion Week, with designers Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons presenting a fresh take on everyday fashion inspired by classic denim styles.

The Spring/Summer collection reimagines jeans-inspired basics using premium leather and lightweight technical fabrics. The designers said the goal was to create practical and wearable menswear for everyday people rather than clothing designed only for fashion insiders.

The collection's signature look featured slim, cropped jackets paired with five-pocket trousers, styled with timeless blazers and leather blousons. Although denim served as the inspiration, most outfits were crafted from soft, luxurious leather in shades of antique white, grey, burgundy and turquoise. A smaller selection of outfits used lightweight white technical fabrics suitable for warmer weather, while only a few final looks were made from actual denim.

Speaking before the show, Raf Simons compared the collection to a simple plate of pasta pomodoro, describing it as a return to essentials. Miuccia Prada revealed that she has never worn jeans herself, while Simons said he only recently returned to wearing them after nearly two decades.

The collection also featured cropped shirts and knitted vests decorated with geometric patterns. These were paired with contrasting silk scarves tied around the waist. Accessories remained minimal, with colourful waist pouches attached to thick belts. Pointed shoes with multiple Velcro straps completed the looks.

Prada explained that the focus was on creating universal wardrobe pieces while avoiding unnecessary design elements. Simons added that the collection aims to reconnect fashion with the way people dress in real life, emphasizing that many of fashion's most influential ideas originally came from the streets rather than luxury runways.

Describing the collection's overall aesthetic, Simons said it presents a clear and simple silhouette that feels sharp, confident and hopeful. He noted that the collection challenges traditional ideas of luxury fashion through its clean and practical approach.

Reflecting this philosophy of simplicity, Prada presented the collection in a minimalist showroom with transparent seating, ensuring every guest had a clear view of the runway.

The event attracted several high-profile guests, including NBA star Anthony Edwards, singer and actor Troye Sivan, members of K-pop group ENHYPEN and British actor Louis Partridge. Large crowds also gathered outside the venue to catch a glimpse of the celebrities despite the summer heat.
