PureHealth held a ceremony at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) to acknowledge emergency room (ER) personnel from the SEHA hospital network for their vital contributions to healthcare services in Abu Dhabi. The gathering included His Excellency Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), Shaista Asif, Group CEO of PureHealth, together with senior leaders and frontline staff.
More than 100 ER physicians, nurses and support staff received recognition for their tireless efforts in urgent and critical care. The honoured teams were credited for maintaining a responsive emergency system and for their role in safeguarding community health, reinforcing efforts to develop Abu Dhabi’s emergency medicine capabilities.
Dr. Salama Bin Rafeea, Acting Director of the Sector of Emergency Preparedness & Response at Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, described the emergency teams as the “frontline heroes of our healthcare system.” He noted that coordination through the Unified Medical Operations Command Centre (UMOC) supports swift, life-saving interventions even before patients arrive at hospital facilities, highlighting Abu Dhabi’s advancing preparedness and innovation.
Eng. Mohammed Hassan Al Zaabi, Chief of Critical Infrastructure and Projects at PureHealth, referred to ER staff as “the frontline guardians of health,” praising their professionalism, compassion and decisive action in critical incidents. He reiterated PureHealth’s dedication to recognising and backing those who consistently deliver exceptional emergency care.
Honourees were presented with personalised tokens of appreciation and recognition bonuses for their exemplary service. Twelve individuals were further distinguished with “ER Heroes of the Year” awards for outstanding work in emergency medicine and patient outcomes.
Among the stories shared, one clinician was commended for identifying an undiagnosed brain lesion in a car crash patient—an intervention that proved life-saving and enabled full recovery. Another was honoured for providing continuous medical and emotional support to a seriously injured child throughout recovery.
The ER Heroes initiative aligns with PureHealth’s wider aim to celebrate clinical excellence, develop healthcare talent and raise patient care standards across Abu Dhabi and beyond. By spotlighting these teams, PureHealth underscores its vision of combining compassion with innovation to ensure rapid, effective responses when every moment matters.
