The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has officially signed a new strategic partnership with MediaPower to further develop and improve the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system used in Qatari football. This agreement marks an important step in QFA’s long-term plan to bring modern technology into the heart of the refereeing process and ensure that match decisions meet the highest international standards.
According to QFA, this partnership is the result of more than a year of continuous technical and operational work between the two sides. Both organizations have been carefully studying how to expand the use of advanced tools that support referees on the field. Their shared goal is to create a more accurate, efficient, and globally competitive refereeing environment in Qatar.
The signing ceremony was attended by several key figures, including Pierluigi Collina, the Chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee and one of the most respected refereeing names in world football. Also present were directors from different QFA departments, section heads, and representatives from various media outlets. Their presence highlighted the importance of this partnership for the future of Qatari football.
Hani Taleb Ballan, a member of the QFA Executive Committee, spoke about the significance of this agreement. He explained that the partnership with MediaPower represents a major step forward for the refereeing system in the country. Ballan said this cooperation will help Qatar establish a strong and sustainable foundation for VAR technology, which will continue to grow and improve over time.
He added that the new system will not only support referees in Qatar but also benefit the wider region and even the international football community. With improved facilities and advanced technology, Qatar aims to become a central hub for regional and continental refereeing development. Ballan expressed confidence that this move will soon bring visible results and strengthen Qatar’s leading role in modern football technology.
Ballan also extended his appreciation to the team members from both QFA and MediaPower. He thanked them for their hard work throughout the past year. Their continuous efforts allowed this project to reach the implementation stage, where the goals set by the two parties will now start turning into real improvements on the ground. Ballan emphasized that the work done so far shows dedication, patience, and a strong vision for the future of football in Qatar.
The new VAR system developed under this partnership is expected to offer more reliability, faster decision-making, and clearer communication between match officials. This will help create a fairer playing environment for clubs, players, and fans. The use of technology is becoming essential in global football, and Qatar aims to stay ahead by investing in innovation and training.
With this agreement, the QFA has taken another solid step in its broader plan to modernize and strengthen the football sector. As Qatar continues to grow as a major sporting destination, especially after hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, such partnerships ensure that the country remains committed to excellence and continuous development.
Through this new collaboration with MediaPower, the QFA signals its strong commitment to raising the quality of refereeing and supporting the future of football in Qatar and beyond. Keywords such as VAR system, QFA partnership, football technology, refereeing system, and MediaPower deal highlight the importance of this step in the sports sector.
