Emirates and Air Canada Strengthen Partnership Through 2032

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Emirates and Air Canada are elevating their partnership with a new agreement extending until December 31, 2032. This comes swiftly after their collaboration began, which has facilitated travel for over 550,000 passengers within three years.

The renewed contract focuses on improving passenger travel options, enhancing cargo operations, and creating new gateways in Canada, making it one of the notable international airline partnerships.

Since 2022, the codeshare network has expanded to 56 routes, connecting travelers across Canada, the U.S., Dubai, and various global destinations. Emirates travelers can now access 37 cities in Canada and the U.S., while Air Canada has its code on 19 Emirates routes throughout the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. The interline agreement allows better access to more than 225 global destinations.

Daily operations remain crucial for both airlines. Air Canada manages a daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner service from Toronto to Dubai, while Emirates operates its A380 daily to Toronto and seven weekly flights to Montréal using the Boeing 777. Air Canada’s transition to Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport has further streamlined their joint operations.

The partnership is also looking to enhance cargo services, contemplating a joint venture to improve global commodity transport, leveraging the rising trade between Canada and the UAE. Canadian exports are projected to reach CAD $3.3 billion in 2024, a 17% increase from the previous year, with Emirates cargo shipments climbing 37% year-over-year.

In addition to smoother loyalty programs and more premium redemption options, plans for coordinated operations at Dubai World Central post-2032 show a commitment to support tourism and trade. This agreement embodies the ongoing demand for robust air travel connections between Canada, the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia.
