Significant Road Expansion by RTA in Dubai

Significant Road Expansion by RTA in Dubai

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has marked a key achievement, completing 13 kilometers of new road networks in 18 residential locales across the emirate. This initiative is a critical part of RTA's mission to support urban development and manage population growth effectively.

Beyond merely constructing roads, the project incorporates essential improvements such as roadside parking facilities, pedestrian pathways, and enhanced street lighting. These enhancements aim to foster better mobility, elevate safety, and enrich the quality of life for community members.

Hamad Al Shehhi, the Director of Roads at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, stated that the new road connections have significantly enhanced accessibility by paving routes that were previously unpaved, thereby streamlining vehicle access in residential areas.

The upgrades have notably improved traffic flow and reduced travel times by as much as 40% in several areas, resulting in a safer and more efficient driving experience.

The initiative incorporated various residential neighborhoods, including Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha South 1, Nad Shamma, Jumeirah 1, Za’abeel 1, Al Rashidiya, Muhaisnah 1, Al Barsha 1, Al Hudaiba, Al Quoz 1 and 3, Al Satwa, Al Twar 1, Mirdif, Umm Ramool, Umm Suqeim 1, and Al Mizhar 1 and 2.

RTA reiterated that such infrastructure developments are in line with its vision of becoming a global leader in efficient and sustainable mobility. The authority is committed to implementing prompt traffic solutions and upgrading infrastructure to enhance the efficiency of Dubai's road network and provide a top-notch transport experience.
